The statement your owners actually read, from the operator they actually call.
A revenue or royalty statement — often called check detail — is the monthly document an oil and gas operator sends a royalty or mineral owner showing production volumes, prices, deductions, taxes, the owner's decimal interest, and the net amount paid for each property.
There are a lot of them
Working interest partners number in the dozens. Royalty and mineral owners number in the hundreds or thousands, and the list changes every month as interests are inherited, sold, and split.
The mail is the whole cost
Printing, stuffing, and mailing check detail every month is a real line item, and it grows with every new owner. It is also the part of the process with the highest chance of a document ending up somewhere it should not.
Owners call when they cannot see
Most owner-relations calls are one of three questions: where is my statement, why did the amount change, and can you send me last year's. All three are self-service questions given the right place to look.
Addresses go stale
Undeliverable mail is the front edge of a suspense problem. Every returned envelope is an owner you now cannot reach and money you may not be able to pay out.
01Splits check detail per owner
The revenue run becomes one statement per owner, showing their properties, their decimal, their deductions, and their net — in a document that reads like something a person can understand.
02Records electronic delivery consent
Electronic delivery of check detail is an owner's choice, and in some states it is a legal requirement that the owner consent to it. DropJib captures that consent, stores it with the owner record, and keeps mailing paper to everyone who has not given it.
03Gives owners their own history
Statements, documents, and prior periods live in an owner portal the owner logs into themselves. Most of the questions that used to be phone calls get answered before the phone rings.
04Surfaces the ones you cannot reach
Hard bounces and repeat non-openers are flagged and routed back to print, so an unreachable owner shows up as a task on a list instead of as a surprise at year end.
For most owners, the statement is the whole relationship.
A royalty owner may never meet anyone at your company. The statement is the contact. Making it arrive on time, read clearly, and live somewhere they can always find it is most of what owner relations actually is.

01What is a royalty or revenue statement in oil and gas?
A royalty or revenue statement — often called check detail — is the document an operator sends a royalty or mineral owner each month alongside payment. It shows, for each property, the production volumes sold, the price received, the gross value, severance and other taxes, post-production deductions, the owner's decimal interest, and the net amount paid to that owner for the period.
02Can royalty owners get their statements by email instead of in the mail?
Yes, with the owner's consent. Electronic delivery of check detail is the owner's choice, and some states specifically protect it — Texas, for example, requires a royalty owner's consent before a payor delivers the required check-stub information in any manner other than on the check stub, attachment, or remittance advice when payment is made by mailed paper check. The practical requirement is that consent is captured per owner and provable. DropJib records that consent with the owner record and keeps mailing paper to every owner who has not given it.
03Does DropJib handle revenue and royalty statements as well as JIB?
Yes. Joint interest bills and revenue statements run through the same pipeline. What differs is who is on the other end: a joint interest bill goes to a working interest partner and asks for money, and a revenue statement goes to a royalty or mineral owner and explains a payment. Both are delivered by email and portal, both keep a per-owner delivery record, and both can be re-sent from any prior period.
04What is an owner portal?
An owner portal is a secure website where an oil and gas operator's working interest and royalty owners log in to see their own statements and account information without calling the operator. A useful portal gives an owner their current statement, their full statement history, related documents, a way to update contact and payment details, and — for working interest owners — a way to pay a joint interest bill. It exists to answer the three questions that make up most owner-relations calls: where is my statement, why did the amount change, and can you send me last year's.
05What happens when an owner's email bounces?
A bounced statement is treated as an undelivered statement, not a completed send. DropJib flags hard bounces and repeat non-openers, routes those owners back to print and mail, and surfaces them as a list to work — because an owner you cannot reach is the front edge of a suspense and unclaimed-property problem, not just a delivery problem.
06Does DropJib calculate suspense, decimals, or 1099s?
No. Those are your accounting system's job and DropJib does not second-guess them. Suspense determinations, division-order decimals, severance tax, and 1099 reporting are calculated upstream. DropJib delivers what your system produces and keeps the record of that delivery.
